How to Record Swing Video for Mustard Golf

If you’re ready to improve your swing with Mustard Golf but keep getting the dreaded “Analysis Failed” message when you submit a swing video, this blog is for you! Whether you record on your own on the range or course, or you have a friend film for you, swing video parameters are the same. And remember, you can also upload a pre-existing video directly from your camera roll, provided it also fits these parameters!

  • Video should be taken down-the-line with the camera aligned with the target line. Videos taken from too far to the left or right cannot be analyzed.
  • The golf club should stay in-frame for the entirety of the swing.
  • Keep other golf clubs out of the frame; if you use one as an alignment stick, it may skew your results.
  • Both slow motion and normal-speed video are OK.
  • Videos should be no more than 30 seconds long. Single-swing videos will process much more quickly and with more success than multiple swing videos.

Record with a Friend

The easiest way to record swing video for Mustard Golf is to have a golf buddy record your swing at the range or on the course, using the guidelines listed above.

Record on Your Own with a Water Bottle or Other Prop

To record swing video on your own, try aligning your water bottle with the target line and resting your phone up against the water bottle, as pictured below. The water bottle will hold the camera nice and steady, providing good video for analysis!

Record On Your Own with GPod

If you’re tired of trying to set your phone up against your water bottle or golf bag to record, try GPod on and off the course! GPod can be stuck into the ground as a monopod for filming on natural grass or mounted on a tripod base for use on range mats or indoor surfaces, ensuring your videos are always steady, consistent and taken at a proper height.
